首先你要了解审稿时间问题：
虽然国外的权威学术期刊其审稿流程是比较严格的，但审稿周期一般情况下不是很长。审稿时间是由编辑初审时间、审稿人审稿时间、编辑给出意见的时间组成的。

编辑初审时间

当你的稿件投到杂志社后，编辑会对稿件进行必要的审阅，看是否符合该期刊的办刊原则，对不符合原则的稿件，编辑可以直接拒稿，这也为了减轻审稿人的负担；还有就是要看稿件所涉及的领域，好找该领域的审稿人审稿。一般情况下会由主编安排副主编去找审稿人，有的则由某个编辑直接找审稿人。编辑初审时间一般在1－2周，遇特殊情况，如法定假期、编辑出差等，审稿时间会更长。

审稿人审稿时间

这一阶段审稿周期比较长，几乎占整个审稿周期的一多半时间。一般情况下，杂志给审稿人的审稿时间一般是：通讯2－3周，全文3－4周，但由于审稿人只是义务，没有责任，所以如果超出这个时间，编辑也只能催促一下，如果审稿人一直没有审稿，编辑部可能重新找审稿人，这样的话，稿件的审稿时间就会特别长。

编辑部给出意见的时间

审稿人意见返回编辑部后，如果2－3个审稿人意见统一，编辑的结论就好下，如果不统一，编辑就有权做出决定，如果编辑决定不了，可能还要再找审稿人仲裁，这样的审稿时间就会长了许多。编辑部给出意见的时间一般会在1周内。

不同的期刊审稿周期是不同的，过长的审稿时间对有些作者来说绝对是没有好处的，比如数学类的论文，所以审稿周期的长短也是作者选择投稿期刊的考虑因素之一。
你都投五个月了还没消息，你赶快去催稿吧。记住要委婉一些，其实两周没消息的时候你就可以问一下编辑了。
