Abstract
Scaling is a common and expensive problem in the marine boiler system. Today, when the world is facing the two major issues of energy conservation and environmental protection, the prevention of boiler scale has become an important topic. In line with the actual conditions of the marine auxiliary boiler, this paper discusses the forms, nature and hazards of the boiler scale. It also states the importance and necessity of scale prevention and treatment, together with explanations on the requirements for boiler water quality and related testing methods. Also, starting from the actual status of vessels, it proposes the most practical methods of boiler descaling at the moment, including mechanical and chemical ones. Later, the paper details upon the specific operations in actual work. In the last part, it depicts a picture of existing new technologies in other nations for the descaling of the marine auxiliary boiler.
